Whether you’re one of our international headliners, a local talent from just up the street, a digital artist lighting up one of Montreal’s downtown buildings, or a fan from thousands of miles away, once you arrive at MUTEK you join a communal experience.

Above and beyond providing a reference point for the many activities planned over the 5 days of our 12th edition, the festival website regroups the most complete information possible for each featured artist featured. Musician & Label-Owner Quantazelle AKA Liz McLean Knight has made the reference public on her publicity photos. It’s based on the (now) most expensive photograph ever, Untitled #153. Check out the comparison and her artist statement here.

The 4th Annual Experimental Garage Sale to be held on June 11 in Chicago is a craft fair that focuses on circuit bending and DIY musical instruments, taking place at the indoor Experimental Sound Studio space with a dozen sellers hawking circuit bent devices, un-bent toys, electronic parts, kits, experimental instruments, contact microphones, guitar pedals, art, and more. It runs from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Following the success of Avant_MUTEK’s first Chicago foray, the program this year has expanded from one day in 2010 to three days in 2011, and continues to explore the artistic boundaries of advanced music and digital through, playful and provocative performances from some of the most highly esteemed names in the electronic music world.

Founded in 2000, Mutek is an international festival organization dedicated to the promotion of electronic music and the digital arts. Its main event is an annual five-day event in Montreal, Canada that takes place in late May and early June. Many of electronic music’s most established figures have performed, as well as numerous new artists who have gone on to build sustainable careers. Along with performances, the festival also features workshops relating to gear and software showcases, and panel discussions concerning the issues that face electronic music and music production.
