]]> (CD, Morr Music, 2006) On his latest release, named after the quintessential piece of guitar hardware, Bernhard Fleischmann brings a very laid-back atmosphere with a hint of melancholy dosed with jazz influences. The rhythmic content of this album is especially toe-tapping and head-nodding considering how relaxed the overall feel is. Hummable melody resonates through the memory long after the album is done playing. bfleischmann cd B.Fleischmann: The Humbucking Coil Really clean production and exceptional use of live instrumentation and electronic rhythm, Fleischmann soothes the listener with a nice array of different instruments from the vibes, to the live guitar and drums in the opening track “Broken Monitors,” and the piano / saxophone duet on track six, titled “Static Crate.” Through the playing of the album, you might notice a wide dynamic range. Fleischmann has a very classical composition style infused with pop allowing the listener to move up and down with the album. Tracks two and seven feature Fleischmann’s vocals in a fashion similar to indie/post-rock bands albeit much more tastefully, in this author’s opinion. Particularly on the track “From To” which I found to be a really moving track featuring vibes, some clean and simple micro-electronics coupled with heavy snare hits make for a well-balanced contrast. Dreamy and contemplative rife with emotional content,  is a great piece of music for those in need of modern electronics with soothing, jazzy musicality.
